11-12 December 2017
University of San Martin
America/Argentina/Buenos_Aires timezone
This workshop follows the previous editions in Rochester, NY and Puebla, Mexico to move the community forward with the design of a new wide field-of-view TeV observatory in the Southern Hemisphere. This workshop, hosted by the International Center for Advanced Studies (ICAS) of the Universidad Nacional de San Martín (UNSAM), will be the first one not attached to a HAWC collaboration meeting.
The main objective of the workshop is to finalize the white paper on the Southern Observatory, and define the key requirements for the site selection. We would also like to define a steering committee to conduct the site selection, and start organizing the future collaboration. While in Argentina, we will also visit the proposed sites in Salta.
The registration fee is $100 (U.S. dollars). You may pay at the workshop (in dollars or pesos, but cash only). But we need you to register before November 11 so we can organize the logistics. There will be transportation from the hotels to the University (and back!) covered by the registration fee. The registration also covers the coffee breaks and the lunches the two days in Buenos Aires. It is also very important that you indicate in the registration whether you intend to visit the sites in Salta. (Please note that you are responsible for your internal airline ticket from/to Buenos Aires to/from Salta, and the hotels in Salta. We will provide the 4x4 transportation to the sites.)
The workshop is supported by ICAS-UNSAM and the Argentine Ministry of Science and Technology (MinCyT).

Dates: from 11 December 2017 09:00 to 12 December 2017 19:00
Timezone: America/Argentina/Buenos_Aires

Additional info:
After the workshop we will go to visit a couple of possible sites in Northern Argentina, in the province of Salta. We are arranging a local travel agency to facilitate the booking of these flights. (See below.) We are working on the hotels in Salta. We will let you know soon.
The tentative schedule is to leave Buenos Aires on Wednesday (Dec 13) morning, and flight out from Salta on Friday (Dec 15) evening. We are investigating the possibility of flying to either Santiago de Chile or Mendoza on the way. It might be an easier option for the return flights. Stay tuned.
